Story Summary:
In the wake of Zero Hour, a catastrophic explosion leaves only one survivor—Jared Stevens, a mercenary turned reluctant mystic. He comes into possession of the powerful Amulet of Anubis and the iconic Helmet of Fate, mystical relics once wielded by the legendary sorcerers Kent and Inza Nelson. But this isn't the Dr. Fate of old—Jared forges a new identity, taking a brutal and grounded approach to sorcery. Unlike his predecessors, Jared doesn’t wear a golden helmet—instead, he melts it down into a dagger and uses it in combat. His version of Fate is a street-level warrior who must battle demons, gods, and the legacy of Fate itself.

Additional Notes:
Fate marked a radical reinvention of the Dr. Fate mythos, embracing darker tones and a more anti-heroic protagonist in line with the 1990s comic aesthetic. Though controversial among traditional fans of the original Doctor Fate, the series gained a cult following for its horror-fantasy themes and unique visual style. Jared’s incarnation was later retired, but the series remains a bold chapter in DC’s magical canon.
